About the Center

Dsegh20center12The Nature Visitor Center is located in Dsegh Community, Lori Marz – one of Armenia's biologically rich sites and Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBA), within 35 minutes driving distance from Vanadzor Town and nearly 70 km from the state border with Georgia.

Inside the Center you will discover the extraordinary diversity of the natural world that is a source of inspiration, knowledge, tourism and an important part of the cultural heritage in Dsegh. Interactive information products, replicas of Dsegh landscapes and challenging quizzes will offer its visitors an opportunity to experience nature's basic patterns. A number of interpretive nature trails can be accessed from the community area and the trailhead located behind the Nature Center’s building.

The Nature Visitor Center in Dsegh is established and operated by the Armenian Society for the Protection of Birds, a not-for-profit organization whose concerted efforts in the area are driven to provide connections to nature through interpretive education, resource protection and outdoor opportunities. The Center was created in partnership with Biotope (Consultancy Firm based in Montpellier, France) and with financial support from the UNDP's GEF Small Grants Program in Armenia, the SVS-BirdLife International Partner in Switzerland, the Rhône-Alpes Regional Council in France and ASPB.
